We’ve had a very busy week.  Momma Reba contracted mastitis, which is an infection of the breast tissue.  It went from a slight issue to a big one in a huge hurry.  As a result, she spent a few days on IV fluids and antibiotics and daily visits to the vet.  We’re very fortunate to have such an amazing veterinary team to help us out with any issues.  They allowed Reba to stay home with us on fluids and monitored her here in our house.  She was still able to nurse the babies a little bit, but Mark and I helped her along with a bit of bottle feeding.  All I can say is that these are very healthy, STRONG puppies and very hungry so we’ve been pretty busy looking after momma and making sure babies are well looked after.  They now have teeth and are old enough to be weaned, so we’ll be doing that towards the end of the week.  Although it’s been tiring, it’s been very fun too.  Much thanks to Wendy, who has been here every day helping us to care for momma and babies.
